- London Brick
- The first ever underwater tunnel – the Wapping tunnel. It was built out of London Brick by Mark Brunel and son, and completed in 1843. When the tunnel was finally completed with walls constructed of three layers of bricks, it became a tourist attraction, attracting 2 million people per year. An American travel writer described it as “the eighth wonder of the world”.
The tunnel is still in use today and is now used as a part of the east London rail line that runs from Dalston to New Cross.
